This weekend we prepared single-serving meals. Mary ordered
bulk freeze-dried foods, and we worked together to get them packaged using Mom’s
food saver. We had fun – Mary mixed and filled the bags, and I sealed
them. I’m looking forward to eating very well on the trail, for sure.
After about 2 hours of work on Saturday, we had a full box
of bags – over 40 total. The perspective of the hike really settled in: that would
only be enough for a little over a month, eating one package for dinner every
day.
Wow!
So, Sunday we made more packages. Now we have almost 100,
and I’ll wait to see how things go once I start out. Mary offered to make more
if I need them, we’ll see.
The closer the 13th comes, and the more preparing
I do, the more excited I get.
Twenty days and counting…I can’t wait!

Very proud of you Don for taking this HUGE challenge on and pursuing your dreams. I really don't think I would have the nerve to embark on such a trip so I applaud your courage and determination. I look forward to following your journey and seeing you along the trail at some point.
